Punjab
Technical University (PTU) will introduce 10 new courses from the
academic session beginning July this year. Vice-chancellor Rajneesh
Arora said that the academic council, in its recent meeting, had
approved the plan to introduce MBA (Business Laws) to meet industry
demand for legally qualified business managers at various levels of
decision-making.
“In
the first phase, the new course will be started at Punjab Institute of
Technology (PIT), Kapurthala, with an initial intake of 30 seats. It
offers combination of skills with regard to law and management to
improve the decision-making process. The two-year programme has been
designed to bridge a crucial gap,” he said. Arora said the minimum
eligibility would be graduation in commerce, business administration or
law with 50% marks.
“Seats
will be filled on the basis of performance of the students in
qualifying exam and an interview,” he said, claiming that the PTU was
the first university in the country to offer this course. The academic
council also gave its approval to start Masters in Journalism and Mass
Communication. Besides, part time post graduate diploma in teaching
methodology will also be introduced at PIT, Kapurthala, Arora said.
“A
course on teaching methodologies will be taught and students will be
issued an addon diploma,” Arora said. Besides, MSc (computer science),
MSc (fashion marketing management), MSc garment manufacturing
technology), BSc (Fashion design), BSc (textile design), BSc (fashion
design knits), BSc (computer science) are also being introduced. Three
certificate programmes in advertising and retailing; credit risk and
treasury management and retail banking will also be introduced
