SAD DEMANDS INDEPENDENT ENQUIRY IN SARABJIT’S MURDER

The Shiromani Akali Dal today demanded an independent enquiry in the cold blooded murder of Sarabjit in Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore in Pakistan and said that an enquiry by International Committee of Red Cross was imperative to expose the utter Human Right violations in this case.
In a statement issued here today Sukhbir Singh Badal, President Shiromani Akali Dal and Deputy Chief Minister Punjab said that "India should push Pakistan for an independent probe into Sarabjit's death. The way he was butchered in the jail is a direct violation of human rights. International Committee of the Red Cross should be involved,".
Lashing at Congress led UPA Government for its failure to protect the life of Indian Citizen lodged in Pakistan Jail, Badal said that Congress led UPA’s weak kneed policies were responsible for cold blooded murder of Sarabjit. “An earlier decisive and stern diplomatic move could have saved the life of Indian Citizen,” said Badal. The Party President said that India should have learnt from countries like USA, who leave no stone unturned to protect their citizen, whenever they were in problem. He said that this scam tainted minority government was so engrossed in its battle for daily survival that they have no concern for the safety and dignity of their citizens.
Describing the murder of Sarabjit as most condemnable and heinous crime, Badal said that whole country was angry with the lame duck attitude of Union Government. He said that people of country expect the elected Government to understand its duties and take decisive action against the rogue country Pakistan. Sharing grief with the bereaved family, Badal said that whole Punjab Government was standing with the family of Sarabjit in this hour of grief. He said that jobs for the two daughters of Sarabjit have already been announced by the Punjab Government and Sarabjit would be cremated by state honours.
