Punjab Govt. to spend Rs.2285 crore on Shahpur Kandi Project to generate 206 MW power: Sekhon

FEROZEPUR : "To cope up with the shortage of power in Punjab, the Punjab irrigation department would spend Rs.2285 crore on Shahpur Kandi Project which will produce 206 MW power", said Janmeja Singh Sekhon while speaking to the media persons.
Sekhon said, the tender work of this project would be completed within a month and besides the repair work of bandhs along with the border area would also be done at a cost of Rs.150 crore to avoid the chances of floods.

He further said, in Maur area of Punjab, the irrigation department has started the work in Ghuman Rajbaha at a cost of Rs.20 crores to meet the scarcity of water.

In reply to the question about Rajasthan Feeder and Sirhind Feeder Canal, he said, in 2013, both these canals would be renovated at a cost of Rs.1500 crore which will help the farmers to meet the problem of seepage since long
