Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee today admitted that it had committed a
mistake by writing to the Censor board for the clearance of Punjabi
movie, Sadda Haq. The apex body for managing gurdwaras in the
country had earlier demanded that the movie based on militancy in the
state be released.
Today,
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar defended its decision to back the
government’s ban on the movie. Makkar said there have been instances of
films being proscribed after being screened. He said peace in Punjab
could not be allowed to be disturbed at any cost Punjab, Haryana and the
UT administration have banned the movie on the ground that it was a
threat to communal harmony.
