Chandigarh: Punjab
government Tuesday issued strict instructions to stop ragging in all
government and private colleges and universities in the state.
State education minister Sikandar Singh Maluka asked universities to
issue instructions to all higher educational institutions as per Supreme
Court guidelines in this regard.
Strict actions would be taken against institutions found violating the norms, he said adding, universities and colleges have been ordered to set up helplines in this connection.
The minister has also instructed institutions to take written undertaking from students and their parents not to take part in any kind of ragging activity.
Heads of educational institutions should immediately inform police if any case of ragging comes to their notice, the minister said.
